Falk Senger, Messe München, on Industry 4.0, IoT Market And Platforms
Which role will the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) play in manufacturing industry in the future? Falk Senger, Managing Director of Messe München, describes in a recently published article at economic magazine ‘Digitale Welt‘ (i.e. digital world) the current state of what is known as Industry 4.0 in Germany – flexible, production-independent production systems that manufacture automatically as well as control and service themselves.
IoT platforms as technology are indispensable, for nearly six of ten (57 percent) among more than 380 IT decision makers from the manufacturing industry, surveyed in a 2017 survey by IDG. The technology is already used by approximately 22 percent. Together with IoT, for 53 percent security technologies and for 48 percent cloud computing are essential, too. The importance of IoT for their own company is estimated for 64 percent of the respondents as high to very high.
